Episode 33

The Importance of Communication through Podcasting

In this episode of Educational Podcasting Today, I sit down with podcaster and Instructional Technology Coach, Gabriel Garillo, to discuss the importance of having positive communication with your students. Gabriel is not only a fantastic Tech Coach in Texas but also is the host of the brand new Edtech Bites podcast that can be found on all of the major podcasting platforms.

In today's episode, we discuss how podcasting can be used not just as a tool to provide instruction but also as a vehicle that allows students to grow and mature as young adults. Gabriel has an amazing outlook on the subject and why podcasting and food should always be found next to each other.

About our Guest

Gabriel Carrillo is an Educational Technology Specialist. He’s been in the educational field since he graduated high school and has served as an instructional assistant, substitute teacher, teacher, dean of students, and assistant principal. He started his journey in California then moved to Arizona with his wife and started their family in the desert. After 11 years in the dry heat, he picked up his family and off they went to Texas, to a much more humid environment. He loves helping those who help our students. He currently supports teachers with all of their EdTech needs in the classroom. This includes troubleshooting, planning lessons/units with teachers, modeling lessons for teachers, and providing professional development. In addition, he’s presented at various conferences in Arizona as well as FETC.

In addition to this, he is also a foodie and loves to cook and chow down on food of all sorts. He would much rather cook at home with the family than eat out at a restaurant. He is in no way professionally trained in the culinary arts however, he learned at an early age that the kitchen is nothing more than a laboratory where experiments are tested and conducted. Sometimes they are a success and sometimes, you throw up in your mouth!

These two passions have come together in his EdTech Bites podcast. He gets to share these two topics with the world on a weekly basis. He believes that the best conversations are had at the table then you break bread together. This is why him and his guests chat while they eat. Check it out on the EdTech Bites website, iTunes, Google Play, Soundcloud, and other podcast platforms.
